Open Plan Side Extension Neston

Our house was built in 1970 and had a small kitchen with a number of separate rooms downstairs. We needed more space for our growing family and to add a home office to work from. We wanted to have an open space where we could spend a lot of time as a family and to have a good sized space to entertain. Previously we would all be in different rooms to cook, play and eat.

After working with a locally arcitect we reached out to Paul as we had seen him working in the local area. After meeting with Paul he came up with a number of changes to the architects original plans such as an increased vaulted roof height, larger velux windows (for the same cost) and lighting ideas we hadn't considered which has really elevated the space. After reviewing the structural engineers calculations he spoke to him directly to see if it was possible to use a thinner beam which results in a more streamlined transition from the existing house into the extension. Paul found a perfect brick match to our existing 1970's house which again added to the end result.

Paul organised and managed the entire project including all of the tradesmen and the workflow was seamless (plumber, electrician, roofer, tiler, joiner). Generally when one trade finished, the following trade would arrive the next day. Paul would be on site in the morning to instruct the tradesman and if required no input from us. Paul's team and any tradesmen he used were all friendly, tidy and completed work to a very high standard. Paul was always one step ahead so we didn't experience any problems with the build. The only problem we had was the kitchen was scheduled to be fitted before we extended the scope of work, and could not be delayed. Paul arranged for his plasterers to work on the weekend to ensure the extension was ready for the kitchen fitters.

We are over the moon with our extension, the quality of all work done has been to the highest of standard. I think everyone has heard horror stories of cowboy builders and we feel very grateful that we had Paul who we trusted throughout the entire process, we really valued his experience and honest opinions. The build was completed in the agreed timescale and the original quote was what we paid. We also paid for a number of additional works where we had increased the scope of work, such as fitting a new roof, and believe the additional works were charged at a fair and reasonable price.

The way he managed the build meant it was essentially stress free for us as we had very little input and went about our lives as normal which was essential as we both work long hours and have young children.

We would not hesitate to recommend Paul to our friends and family and would not consider using anyone else if we were to need a builder in future.
